SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The New York Lottery today announced the launch of its new Silver Spectacular game, the first ever $25 scratch-off game offered in the history of the New York Lottery. Silver Spectacular is an exciting new game for players who want a spectacular, life-changing win.

“Our newest New York Lottery scratch-off game offers players a higher cash jackpot prize of $7,500,000,” said Gardner Gurney, Acting Director of the Division of the Lottery. “We believe our current players and perhaps some new Lottery players will want to get in on the excitement of a chance to win such a spectacular, life-changing cash prize.”

The Silver Spectacular game (see attachment) launched statewide on January 7. Lottery players enjoy playing scratch-off games, and most players have their own favorites.  Despite this, some consumers are also motivated by the novelty of playing the newest games. Scratch-off games account for more than 50 percent of overall sales of New York Lottery games.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.04 billion in fiscal year 2012-2013 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts. 

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
