Lieutenant Governor Kathy C. Hochul distributes filled backpacks to domestic violence shelters in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

             Lieutenant Governor Kathy C. Hochul, New York State Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner Sheila J. Poole and Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Executive Director Kelli Owens

 

WHAT:           In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), backpacks full of daily essentials will be distributed to Capital Region agencies that provide domestic violence support and services

   

WHEN:           1:15 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2019

                        Troy, NY 12180

               

DETAILS:       Lieutenant Governor Kathy C. Hochul and other state officials will discuss the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the services available for victims and survivors throughout New York state. They will distribute 50 “Backpacks of Care” filled with basic necessities to Capital Region agencies that operate domestic violence shelters. Each backpack includes items such as a towel and washcloth, socks, soap and shampoo, a toothbrush, sheets, diapers, hairbrush, sweatpants and a notebook.
