The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today offered details about service for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15. 

New York City Subways and Buses 

On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, the New York City Subway will operate on a Saturday schedule with some planned service changes due to scheduled maintenance and repair work. As a reminder, some subway lines do not run on weekends: there will be no  express service and  and  trains will not run. Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule. 

New York City buses will operate on a Saturday schedule with additional early morning departures. The QM2 bus will depart from Bay Terrace, Queens at 7:10 a.m. and QM5 buses will depart from Glen Oaks, Queens at 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. The QM20 will operate on a special schedule, departing hourly from Bay Terrace, Queens between 6:20 a.m. and 10:20 p.m. and Sixth Ave and 36 St in Manhattan between 9:40 a.m. and 11:40 p.m. 

Staten Island local and express buses will operate on a holiday schedule.

Commuter Railroads 

For President’s Day Monday, Feb. 15, Metro-North will run a weekend/ holiday schedule on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines with off-peak fares in effect all day. Customers should be advised there is no train or bus service on the Wassaic Branch on holidays. Hudson Rail Link will not operate. Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule with off-peak fares in effect all day. 

The Long Island Rail Road will operate on a weekend/ holiday schedule with off-peak fares in effect all day.

Live Subway Map – The MTA launched a public beta of its groundbreaking Live Subway Map on Oct. 20. In its first iteration the Live Subway Map shows the real-time position of trains, planned service changes at any given time, highlight accessible stations, and much more. 

Email and text message service updates – Customers are urged to sign up to receive alerts, tailored by specific branch and time of day, by visiting www.MyMTAAlerts.com.  

Twitter – Twitter users can follow @MTA, @NYCTSubway, @NYCTBus, @LIRR and @MetroNorth to receive dynamic service updates and customer service support. 

WhatsApp - NYC Transit recently started using WhatsApp to expand the number of customer service channels available to riders and is especially helpful for non-native English speakers. Riders can receive customer service support in their native language through the help of Google Translate. 

These communication channels can be accessed while at home or on the go. For customers who are located at stations, the MTA will post the latest service updates on digital signs at station platforms and will make audio announcements over public address systems, and on-board announcements made by train crews. 

For those who prefer to contact the MTA by telephone, information is available by dialing 511, the New York State Travel Information Line. Connecticut customers should call 877-690-5114. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can use their preferred service provider for the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
