Paralympic Photo Exhibition calls Lake Placid its Temporary Home |
|
The exhibit will have 16 images on display, all taken by Lieven Coudenys, an official photographer of the International Paralympic Committee, during the Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010. Coudenys depicts the amazing experiences of the Paralympic Games and raises questions of what it means to be an athlete today. There will also be Paralympic equipment on display to accompany the pictures. In addition to the photo exhibition, the Lake Placid Olympic Museum will be co-sponsoring the screening of the award winning documentary, 1 Revolution at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on March 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The film highlights Chris Waddell, the first paraplegic to summit Mt. Kilimangaro. Waddell earned 17 Paralympic medals in seven Paralympic Games. Waddell will be at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts that evening to give an inspiring lecture and answer questions about the documentary. The Paralympic Games is one of the most inspirational events to watch as a spectator as athletes demonstrate their determination and excellence in sport. The first Winter Paralympic Games were held less than 40 years ago in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden in 1976. The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games are being held March 7-16, 2014. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults/teens. It’s $5 for juniors/seniors.
