Johnson, Silk and Wells Join Miracle onIce Fantasy Camp Coaching Staff |

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- As the list of participants continues to grow for the March 29-April 2 Miracle on Ice Fantasy Camp, in Lake Placid, N.Y., so too does its coaching staff. U.S. 1980 Olympic hockey gold medalists Mark Johnson, Dave Silk and Mark Wells have each been added to the camp’s coaching staff. “It’s like getting the band together again,” said 1980 team member and captain Mike Eruzione. “I’m excited that these guys will be joining us to re-live their own experiences that they had 35 years ago in Lake Placid and share them with everyone at the camp.” To date, 50 people from throughout the country have signed up to participate in the five-day camp which will be held in the two-time Olympic village of Lake Placid. The camp will also be held in the same arena, on the same sheet of ice where the United States knocked off the former Soviet Union, in a game that’s known Worldwide as the “Miracle on Ice,” en route to their improbable gold medal. “It’s hard to believe that 35 years have already passed,” noted 1980 team member Buzz Schneider. “I get just as much excitement today talking with fans as I did 35 years ago and I can’t wait to share those stories and more with this group of people.” Johnson, who is now the women’s hockey coach at the University of Wisconsin, Silk, who had two assists in the historic game against the former Soviet Union, and Wells, who had four goals and two assists during the 1980 Games, join Eruzione, Schneider, Neal Broten, Dave Christian, John Harrington, Steve Janaszak and Ken Morrow on the camp’s coaching staff. To date, only 19 spots remain available and fans can learn more by visiting www.MiracleonIceFantasyCamp.com. All Fantasy Campers will be picked up at Albany (N.Y.) International Airport and transported to and from Lake Placid via motor coach. While in Lake Placid, they will receive hockey instruction and play games while spending four nights at the High Peaks Resort. There they will enjoy dining, socialize with the 1980 players, receive a gift bag including practice and home and away replica 1980 USA Hockey game jerseys, hockey helmet, gloves, socks, pants, camp apparel, souvenir autographed hockey stick and a framed autographed photo of each participant and their team with the 1980 Hockey Players. Participants will also receive a camp highlight video and be a part of those “inside” stories that may not have been told over the past 35 years.
