Subway Riders Traveling to Yankee Stadium Encouraged to Take  Train or Courtesy Metro-North Trip from Grand Central

These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and Manhattan and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.

Service details for New York Yankee games this weekend, May 5 & 6

Going to the home games at Yankee Stadium this weekend?  Here’s what you need to know.  Due to the replacement of critical signal components and cabling to help ensure reliability of signal and switch systems as part of the Subway Action Plan, service is suspended in both directions between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse;  trains run local in both directions between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St, and is expected to have higher than usual ridership; and  service is suspended in both directions between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St (service will still operate between Pelham Bay Park and 125 St).

 line customers traveling to Yankee Stadium from north of E 180 St should:

• Take a westbound bus to a station along the  line, where service to Yankee Stadium is available.  Or,
• Take free shuttle buses between E 180 St and 149 St-Concourse and transfer to a 161 St-Yankee Stadium bound  train at 149 St-Grand Concourse to complete your trip.

Customers traveling to Yankee Stadium from points south should:

• Take the  train to Yankee Stadium.
• In addition, MTA Metro-North Railroad will allow MetroCard holders to ride on Metro-North trains operating between Grand Central, Harlem-125 Street and Yankee-E.153 Street between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. both days without paying an additional fare.

From 3:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 6,  service is suspended in both directions between 137 St and 242 St due to track replacement on the Harlem River Bridge and north of Dyckman St.  Take the , M3, M100, and free shuttle buses instead.   service will run between 137 St and South Ferry.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service along four routes.  Use the  to nearby stations via transfer at 59 St , 168 St , or 207 St . 

From 5:45 a.m. Saturday, May 5, to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6,  service is suspended in both directions between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse due to signal improvements.   service will operate in two sections: between South Ferry and 149 St-Grand Concourse and between E 180 St and Dyre Av.  Free express and local shuttle buses operate between 149 St-Grand Concourse and E 180 St. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7,  service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  This project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables.

•  trains will run between 14 St and Harlem-148 St. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Times Sq , or free out of system transfer between Bowling Green  and South Ferry .  

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, shuttle trains replace weekend  service between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, and  shuttle trains replace weekend  service between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark Street Tunnel.  There are no  trains running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in either direction.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7,  trains will run local in Brooklyn and make  station stops due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.   service will be extended to New Lots Av, and  service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.  A free out-of-system transfer is available between Bowling Green  and South Ferry  stations.

From 9:45 a.m. Saturday, May 5, to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 6, uptown  trains run express from 14 St-Union Sq to Grand Central-42 St due to track maintenance.  Use a downtown  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Grand Central-42 St or 14 St-Union Sq. 

From 5:45 a.m. Saturday, May 5, to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6,  service is suspended in both directions between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse due to signal improvements.   service will operate in two sections: between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and 149 St-Grand Concourse, and between E 180 St and 241 St.  Free express and local shuttle buses operate between 149 St-Grand Concourse and E 180 St. 

11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7,  service is suspended in both directions between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St due to signal improvements.   service will operate between Pelham Bay Park and 125 St.   trains run local all weekend between 125 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.  Transfer between trains at 125 St. 

11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Manhattan-bound  trains run express from Hunts Point Av to 3 Av-138 St due to signal improvements.  Use a Pelham Bay Park-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 3 Av-138 St or Hunts Point Av. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, uptown  trains run express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 125 St due to station enhancements at 72 St and 110 St.  Use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 125 St or 59 St-Columbus Circle.  As a reminder,  service does not run overnight.       

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, downtown  trains skip 155 St and 135 St due to station enhancements at 163 Street. Use an uptown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 125 St, 145 St or 168 St.   As a reminder,  service does not run overnight, and 163 St-Amsterdam Av is closed until September 2018 for station enhancements.   

At all times until September 2018  trains skip 163 St-Amsterdam Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St , 155 St , or 157 St  instead.  Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the  at 168 St or 155 St with MetroCard.  Need to transfer to another bus?  Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

At all times until May 2018,  service will be suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Beach 116 St due to a flood protection project in the Rockaways that will make critical subway infrastructure more resilient in the face of future storms, and improve the overall reliability of subway service on the peninsula.  During this closure,  service will operate between Inwood-207 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.   shuttle trains will make all station stops between Beach 116 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.  Transfer between  and  trains at Beach 67 St.  In addition to the shuttle, Q35 local bus service runs daily between Beach 116 St/Newport Av, Rockaway Park and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College  subway station in Midwood, Brooklyn.  QM16 express bus service runs weekdays only, to/from Midtown (6 Av) Manhattan.    

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, May 4,  service will end early due station enhancements at 72 St and 110 St.  Take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends.  

At all times until September 2018,  trains will skip Cathedral Parkway-110 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, walk to the nearby  stations at 116 St and 103 St, along Fredrick Douglas Blvd/Central Park West.  Or take the  at 110 St, along Broadway.  Use the M10 bus along Fredrick Douglas Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 116 St or 103 St with MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 116 St or 103 St for a transfer to the bus.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound  trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St, skipping DeKalb Av, due to signal improvements.  Use a Manhattan-bound  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 36 St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Norwood-205 St bound  trains skip 182-183 Sts due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Fordham Rd or Tremont Av. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Norwood-205 St bound  stop at 14 St and 23 St due to equipment testing.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Jamaica Center-bound  trains run express from Queens Plaza to Jamaica-Van Wyck due to signal modernization.  Use a Manhattan-bound  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Jamaica-Van Wyck , Union Tpke , or 71 Av, Roosevelt Av, or Queens Plaza.  As a reminder,  service does not run in Queens overnight. 

At all times until mid 2018, Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7,  service is suspended in both directions between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to structural improvements and signal interlocking modernization.   service will operate between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.  Free shuttle buses make all  line station stops between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Church Av.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Church Av.  

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Jamaica Center-bound  trains skip 75 Av, Briarwood and Sutphin Blvd due to signal modernization.  Use a Manhattan-bound  or  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Parsons Blvd , Union Tpke or 71 Av.  

At all times until Summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 121 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, take the  to Sutphin Blvd and transfer to a Broad St-bound .  As a reminder, Broad St-bound  trains skip 121 St from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the  instead.  For service from this station, take the  to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound . 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 12:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 71 Av-bound  trains run express from Queens Plaza to 71 Av due to signal modernization.  Use a Manhattan-bound  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 71 Av, Roosevelt Av, or Queens Plaza.

At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the .  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until the end of June 2018,  trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  There will also be a new staircase for exiting from the 30 Av Astoria-bound platform to the street-level intersection of 30th Avenue and Newtown Avenue.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for  service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St  stations.  Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):

• Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza or Queens Plaza
• Q18 to Northern Blvd .

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line (Montague Tunnel) from Canal St to DeKalb Av due to electrical improvements.  Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound trains will stop at City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St and Jay St-MetroTech. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7, downtown  trains run express from 57 St-7Av to Canal St due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.  Use an uptown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Canal St, 14 St-Union Square, 34 St-Herald Sq, Times Sq-42 St, or 57 St-7Av.  As a reminder,  trains run between Whitehall St and Bay Ridge-95 St overnight.
