The Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Long Island Rail Road today announced added train service to help tens of thousands of golf fans reach the newly renovated Farmingdale Station en route to the PGA Bethpage Black tournament May 13-19, 2019.

Once fans reach Farmingdale Station, complimentary shuttle buses provided by the PGA will be available for the short ride to Bethpage State Park and the Main Spectator Entrance. Golf fans are encouraged to purchase Round-Trip tickets before boarding trains, as tickets bought onboard cost more.

Up to 18,000 fans per day are expected to use the LIRR to reach the tournament. With no parking allowed at Bethpage State Park, or at Farmingdale Station, fans are encouraged to use the LIRR as the best way to avoid traffic and parking hassles. Service to the 101st PGA Championship via Farmingdale Station

Eastbound LIRR train service to Farmingdale will depart from Penn Station, Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola and Hicksville. Connecting service will be available from Brooklyn. Those traveling to the 101st PGA Championship from eastern Long Island will be provided with direct service to Farmingdale from the Ronkonkoma, Central Islip, Brentwood, Deer Park and Wyandanch stations. Customers traveling from the Port Jefferson Branch should transfer at Hicksville for trains to Farmingdale. When changing trains, remember to take your ticket with you. Farmingdale Station

Fans flocking to Farmingdale Station, located along the Ronkonkoma Branch in Nassau County, will get the chance to experience a completely overhauled station that was completed and unveiled last year. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this station, originally built in 1890, has long been a part of this community.

Its facade was fully restored to its original historical brick architecture, capturing and preserving its history and character. In celebration of its rich history, historic photos were placed alongside a commemorative plaque in remembrance of its past.

Improvements include:

• Building upgrades: A new waiting room with terrazzo flooring, newly redone ADA accessible restrooms, tile and wood wall and ceiling finishes, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing and HVAC upgrades.
• Easier navigation: The pedestrian underpass was rehabilitated, and new wayfinding signage was installed along with bike racks, benches, USB charging stations, technology counters, and LCD information displays to further enhance the customer experience.
• Safety and Efficiency: New CCTV cameras were installed, along with platform repairs, and new LED platform lighting.
• Improved ADA accessibility: A new ramp was installed.
• Customer comfort: Free public Wi-Fi, digital information display totems, and new trash receptacles throughout the station.

Parking Restrictions: There is NO parking available at Farmingdale Station or Bethpage State Park during the 101st PGA Championship

Fans who travel by car must park at Jones Beach, then board complimentary shuttle buses to the golf course. Because Farmingdale Station is on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch, Suffolk County residents traveling west to Farmingdale should know that they can park at any LIRR station east of Farmingdale (Ronkonkoma, Central Islip, Brentwood, Deer Park and Wyandanch) for free on weekends, then take a train to the 101st PGA Championship. Nassau County residents traveling east to Farmingdale can park on weekends at the Mineola Intermodal Center at Mineola Station for $6 per day, up to 20 hours, and $12 per day, up to 24 hours.

Both the North and South LIRR commuter parking lots at Farmingdale will be closed starting on Saturday May 11^th and will reopen on Monday, May 20^th. Twelve parking spaces will remain available for handicapped Farmingdale LIRR parking permit holders with a handicap placard on the North side of the LIRR tracks. Commuters will not be permitted to park on the streets or in any other Village parking lots.

LIRR customers who normally drive to Farmingdale Station bound for other destinations are encouraged to use nearby Wyandanch Station, where parking will be available. The MTA/LIRR has arranged for all Farmingdale parking permit holders to park in the new parking garage adjacent to the LIRR station in Wyandanch. There will be no charge for Farmingdale Parking Permit holders (with permit affixed) nor will there be an increased LIRR commuter fare for the zone change.

Local residents and commuters looking to board/disembark trains at Farmingdale Station are permitted to walk to the station or be picked up or dropped off at Farmingdale LIRR Station. There will be designated areas for the pickup and drop-off along Secatogue Avenue. MTA Police and Village officials will be on site to aid in directing customers, and signage will also be placed.
