Riding Metro-North is an easy way to join the fun this Sunday, June 12, for the Westchester Mountain Biking Association’s “Fat Tire Festival,” taking place at the Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill, New York from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy a summer day in the great outdoors while exploring some of the best mountain bike trails in New York State at this free, family friendly event.
For Sunday’s event, Metro-North will be suspending bicycle permit and per train limit on the number of bicycles on Hudson Line trains leaving from Grand Central Terminal from 6:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. and arriving at Grand Central Terminal from 1:00 p.m. to 9:04 p.m. Blue Mountain Reservation is located only less than two miles from the Peekskill station stop, and it’s an easy, direct route to the Festival grounds.
Organized group rides for all ability levels, led by experienced local guides, will be leaving throughout the day. Watch and compete in the many skills competitions, including a wheelie contest and fast and slow races. The Festival’s “activity zone” will have food, music and raffle prizes.
All riders will be required to wear bicycle helmets during festival activities, and participants will be asked to sign a waiver.
