DEC REMINDS NEW YORKERS TO GIVE THE GIFT OF CONSERVATION THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

DEC Conservationist Magazine Subscriptions Half Price During Black Friday – Cyber Monday Sale

Habitat Access Stamp Provides Opportunity to Give Back to the Environment

Exciting stories on outdoor adventures and stunning photography can be delivered to your door—or and computer—at a special price, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos announced today. DEC is offering a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal that reduces the price of a year-long Conservationist magazine subscription to $6, half the regular price, plus an extra issue at no additional cost.

Interested New Yorkers can also purchase a Habitat & Access Stamp as gifts to support the state’s conservation efforts. Whether an angler or hunter, birder or photographer, purchasing a $5 Habitat & Access Stamp is a great way for New Yorkers to help conserve the state’s magnificent wildlife heritage and habitat. Created in 2002, the Habitat & Access Stamp helps support DEC’s efforts to improve and conserve fish and wildlife habitat, as well as increase access to public and private lands for fish and wildlife recreation.

“New York’s spectacular outdoors come to life in the pages of the Conservationist, which is a great way for people to learn about our environment, wildlife, and the many exciting outdoor activities available across the state,” Commissioner Seggos said. “Reducing the subscription price for the magazine from Black Friday through Cyber Monday will help more New Yorkers stay up-to-date on outdoor topics like hiking, hunting, fishing, and other adventures. Don’t miss out on this special offer to subscribe to the Conservationist at a discounted price, or give a subscription as a gift to a relative or friend.  With the money you save, consider giving back to our shared environment by purchasing a $5 Habitat & Access Stamp. All funds from stamp purchases are deposited directly into the DEC Conservation Fund Habitat Account and are used for conserving habitat and increasing recreational opportunities.”

With this limited-time Conservation magazine offer, subscribers will receive seven issues of the magazine, including three that contain Conservationist for Kids, as well as access to the online, digital version of the magazine, which features additional photographs, video, and audio.

DEC has published the Conservationist for 70 years, and currently has more than 75,000 subscribers. Many people keep past issues of the magazine for the beautiful and timeless photographs, artwork, and stories, and as a reference on wildlife and exciting outdoor recreation sites and activities. Readers will learn about birds and wildlife, camping and accessible day-trip destinations, hunting and fishing facts and tips, and little-known aspects of nature, like the hellbender, New York’s largest salamander at up to two feet or longer.

Three times a year, the Conservationist for Kids insert is specifically designed for young readers and designed to spark their interest in the outdoors with stories, pictures, and drawings, as well as pencil-ready puzzles.
