Overnight Lane Closures At Throgs Neck Bridge For Necessary Maintenance

Two lanes will be closed overnight in both directions at the Throgs Neck Bridge on August 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th. The closures are required to replace the overhead sign structure and gantry.

The schedule for lane closures are:

  • Wed Night 8/3

Two lanes (center and right) will be closed in both directions from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

  • Thurs Night 8/4

Two lanes (center and left) will be closed in both directions and from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

  • Fri Night 8/5:

Two lanes (center and left) will be closed in both directions and from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

  • Mon Night 8/8:
Two lanes (center and left) will be closed in both directions and from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

At times, intermittent full closures of the bridge will be required for 15 minutes to install the new gantry and to remove the old gantry.

Motorists should expect delays and plan accordingly; they can also use the Bronx-Whitestone or the Robert F. Kennedy bridges as an alternate route.

Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts at www.mta.info and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information on this planned work.
