Another Capital Region Lottery Player wins $1,000,000 Jackpot

Fifty-six-year-old Patricia Stanton of Niskayuna is the latest Capital Region Lottery player to win a $1,000,000 jackpot prize.  Stanton won her prize on a Lady Luck 7 scratch-off ticket she purchased on Mother’s Day.

“I was with my mom and we stopped at Stewart’s after getting our nails done,” explained Stanton.  “I bought a couple of the Lady Luck 7 tickets and told my mom to pick one.  Hers was a $10 winner and mine ended up being the jackpot winner.”

Stanton wasn’t convinced it was an actual winner.  “I thought it was joke.  I showed my mom to confirm and she told me it was a winner!”

“I went straight home to show my father and my husband,” Stanton continued.  “I immediately signed the back of the ticket and put it away in a cabinet for safe keeping.”

Stanton chose to receive her prize in 20 annual payments of $50,000.  She will receive an annual net check totaling $33,590 after required withholdings.

“It like a dream,” Stanton said of her newfound fortune.  “It doesn’t feel real.”  When asked what she plans to do with the money Stanton says she will take care of family and pay for her daughter’s college education.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Stewart’s Shops at 1218 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.37 billion in fiscal year 2017-2018 to help support education in New York State. The Lottery’s contribution represents approximately 13 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education. It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
