The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance is providing free, one-on-one direct taxpayer assistance at the Great New York State Fair this year. At the center, from the opening to the closing of the fair, Department experts are meeting privately with taxpayers to resolve tax issues and answer questions. The goal: help them better understand or resolve their tax questions – on the spot. On Friday, August 22, New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Thomas H. Mattox will take a break from assisting taxpayers to discuss this innovative service approach with the media and share success stories from day one of the fair.
