Plasterers Recruit Apprentices

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Plasterers Local Union #9, will conduct a recruitment from January 2, 2019 through June 12, 2019 for four plasterer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications may be obtained at Local Union #9, 168 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, NY, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday of each month, and 5151 West Lake Road, Auburn, NY from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, during the recruitment period. 

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have completed the 9th grade.
  • Must pass a drug test and physical exam, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work and related instruction.
  • Must have valid driver’s license. Apprentices will be required to drive company vehicles on occasion.
  • Must provide military discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to indenture.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
