Rotterdam, NY (September 25, 2014) – The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Painters and Glaziers, Local Union #155, will conduct a recruitment from October 8, 2014 through September 17, 2015 for five painter, decorator, paperhanger apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #155, 21 Airport Road, Wappinger Falls, NY from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a minimum of a 10^th grade education.
• Must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
