Fundraising 66-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Seeks Record on The Long Path

Who: Tom Walsh of Worcester, NY. Avid hiker, volunteer and 66-year-old cancer survivor.

What: Join New York State Parks, Otsego Outdoors and the Bassett Cancer Institute as they send off Tom Walsh as he hikes the Long Path Southbound. The Long Path stretches from John Boyd Thacher State Park to the 175th Street Subway Station in NYC. This 360-mile trek is both a personal challenge for Tom and to raise funds for Otsego Outdoors and the Bassett Cancer Institute. If he completes this hike, he believes he will be the first person to hike the Long Path in continuous thru-hikes both southbound and northbound.

Agenda:

10:00am: Tom Walsh begins hike on Long Path from Trailhead

12:00pm: Tom arrives at Visitor Center at Thacher State Park

12:00-12:30pm: Tom Walsh available for interviews

12:30pm: Send off for Tom as he continues his journey south
