Empire State Building Will Shine Blue to Honor MTA Workforce Tonight

The heroic workforce of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will be honored Wednesday night by the Empire State Building, which will be illuminated in the official blue of the MTA. The lights will turn blue starting at 7:51 p.m.

“Our employees are working tirelessly to keep the city moving and get essential employees to where they have to go during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said MTA Chairman and CEO Patrick J. Foye. “They are among the heroes of this moment in history. We honor them every day for their dedication and tonight everyone within view of the Empire State Building will know others are joining us in honoring and thanking our employees.”

The Empire State Building tower lights will shine different colors each night to honor different first responders and essential workers. This is part of the Empire State Building ‘Heroes Shine Bright’ initiative between April 24 and May 2 that reinforces the MTA’s #HeroesMovingHeroes campaign.
