VOLUNTEERS AT FIVE RIVERS ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER TO PLANT DEC’S FIRST ‘MINI FOREST’

Tomorrow, June 7, more than 100 community volunteers will join the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar to plant DEC’s first mini forest. This innovative way of planting trees will feature families planting more than 3,000 trees and plants in a small area near the visitor center.  

The event was postponed from last week due to weather and will be held tomorrow rain or shine. There is still time available to reserve a time to volunteer for planting. Visit the events section of dec.ny.gov for more details.   

WHERE: Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY 12054  

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 7 

* Volunteers will be planting trees the entire time and a DEC representative will be available during the event for interviews. If planning to attend, please RSVP with an estimated time of arrival to pressoffice@dec.ny.gov.
