PSC Chair at State Fair to Discuss Transforming New York’s Energy and Electricity Market

WHAT:          Technological innovation and increasing competitiveness of renewable energy resources, combined with aging infrastructure, extreme weather events, and system security and resiliency needs, are all leading to significant changes in how electric energy is produced, managed and consumed. New York is leading the way to ensure these trends benefit the State’s citizens. To meet this challenge, the Commission’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) initiative will reform New York’s energy industry and regulatory practices, promote more efficient use of energy, greater use of renewable energy resources such as wind and solar, and wider deployment of distributed energy resources, such as micro grids, on-site power supplies, and storage. These changes will empower customers and provide choices in how they manage and consume electric energy. To kickoff K-Solar, a program under Governor Cuomo’s NY-Sun Initiative, a free solar electric system will be raffled off to benefit a school. Nomination forms are available at the PSC booth, as well as the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority and the New York Power Authority booths.
