St. Lawrence and Dartmouth Continue to Climb in ECAC Hockey Standings

Tickets on Sale Now for 2015 ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament, March 20-21 in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Before the beginning of 2015, Harvard was almost a lock for an automatic bid into the NCAA men’s ice hockey championship tournament. But that all changed for the Crimson, due in large part to their 2-7 skid in 2015.

Fourteenth ranked Harvard (12-8-2, 8-6-2) rides a four-game losing streak into their two home games, Friday and Saturday, against Colgate (15-10-3, 7-6-3) and Cornell (10-10-3, 8-7-1). Harvard sits tied for third place in ECAC Hockey play with #15 Yale (13-7-3, 8-6-2), Dartmouth (11-8-4, 8-6-2) and Clarkson (11-13-4, 8-6-2), just one point ahead of both the Red Raiders and Big Red, who are tied for seventh place in the conference standings.

While Harvard stumbles, St. Lawrence continues to climb in conference play. The Saints (16-10-2, 7-5-1) have won seven straight and have taken sole possession of second place in the league, with 24 points, just three behind front running and 13th ranked Quinnipiac (18-8-2, 13-2-1).

The Saints run has also gained them national attention as they appeared for the first time this season in the USCHO.Com poll, at number-20.

On Friday, St. Lawrence will try to make up some ground on the Bobcats when they travel to Hamden, Conn., before squaring off against Princeton (3-17-2, 1-14-1), Saturday.

Dartmouth has rebounded from opening the New Year with a 0-4-2 mark to win five in a row. During the span, the Big Green has averaged 4.6 goals per game. They’ll try to maintain their scoring output when they host Cornell, Friday, and Colgate on Saturday.
