OGS COMMISSIONER MOY ANNOUNCES LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT THE EMPIRE STATE PLAZA TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21

Celebration to Feature Food Vendors, Entertainment, Giveaways, and Fun Activities

NYS Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced that OGS’s third annual Lunar New Year Celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 on the Empire State Plaza’s south concourse. The event, which is free to attend, will include art exhibits, live performances, interactive displays, giveaways, activities, and vendors with food and merchandise for purchase.

“Team OGS wishes everyone a good Year of the Dragon,” Commissioner Moy said. “Lunar New Year is a time for family, friends, and feasting. We hope you’ll join us at the Empire State Plaza to experience performances, displays, and delicious food brought to us by local organizations. I’d like to thank all the vendors and Team OGS for putting on a fun and entertaining informative Lunar New Year celebration at the Plaza.”

A symbol of power, wisdom, good fortune, and vitality, the dragon signifies prosperity for the coming year.

In observance of the Lunar New Year, OGS has adorned the south end of the Empire State Plaza concourse, between the main food court and the entrance to the Corning Tower, with vibrant displays that include planter boxes, moon gates, and paper lanterns.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with local organizations offering information, games, and other interactive activities. The event’s official program will begin at 11:30 a.m. and feature a lineup of exciting, live performances, including a demonstration of the Lion Dance.

Food vendors selling prepared food will include Baba Duck, Yono’s, Two Little Dumplings, and Kuma Ani.

Organizations and individuals involved in the event include The Chinese Community Center, The Taiwanese American Association of the Capital District, the Korean Association of Albany, Diaspora Indonesia, the Albany Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association, Silvia Mioc, the New York State Museum, M&T Bank and Trader Joe’s.
