DEC to Announce Four Winners of 16th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards

Who:   At the 16th annual Environmental Excellence Awards, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will recognize: a Capital District not-for-profit that advances sustainable urban revitalization and enhances access to locally grown foods; a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use redevelopment community in Monroe County; New York’s largest botanical garden’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability; and a northern New York environmental center calling on young people to act on climate change. 

What: Since 2004, DEC's Environmental Excellence Awards have honored 86 organizations and businesses for innovative efforts to address environmental and public health concerns. This year’s award recipients are being recognized for their commitment to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability.  

When:           Wednesday, Nov. 13
                      Awards ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
                      Award winners will be available to speak with             
                     press prior to the awards ceremony at 9:45 a.m.
