Weekend Subway Service Advisory

Customers may visit our website at www.mta.info and check out “The Weekender,” accessible by clicking “The Weekender” tab located within the Service Status Menu. The Weekender makes it easy for subway riders to visualize exactly how weekend work will affect subway service.

The updated “Weekender for Mobile App,” which now includes MTA Subway Time data, is available for iPhone in the Apple app store, and I n the Google Play store for Android devices.  This free-to-download app shares the same features as the desktop version, including a subway diagram that displays the service to be provided each weekend, and all service changes.  Users can pinch or expand the map to multiple zoom levels, and tap to choose one of three ways to view service diversions: Service by Line, Service by Borough and Service by Station. 

Customers can also download the apps at http://web.mta.info/apps/weekenderApp.html

TripPlanner+ provides travel information that takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway diversion e-mails delivered to their inbox by signing up for the E-mail Subscription Program.  Just log on to the NYC Transit homepage at http://www.mta.info/nyct.

These weekend changes are necessary because of capital construction work on the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  This work is part of NYC Transit’s ongoing Capital Rebuilding Program aimed at upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.  For more information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program log on to www.mta.info/capital.  Customers who rely on these lines should allow for additional travel time.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 1 trains are suspended in both directions between South Ferry and 14 St, and between 137 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.  For service to/from Rector St and South Ferry, use the Rector St and Whitehall St r stations, or Wall St and Bowling Green 45 stations instead.  Or, transfer between 23 trains and free shuttle buses at Chambers St.  For service between 137 St and 168 St, use free shuttle buses or the ac at nearby stations.  For service between 168 St and 191 St, use M3 or free shuttle buses. Or, use the a at nearby stations.  For service between 207 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses to/from a trains at Inwood-207 St.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21,  2 trains run local in both directions between Chambers St and 34 St-Penn Station.

At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions.  Use free shuttle buses instead.

  • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
  • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.

At all times until further notice, 3 trains skip Pennsylvania Av in both directions.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between Pennsylvania Ave and Van Siclen Av at all times.  B20 and B83 customers can transfer to/from free shuttle buses at Pennsylvania Av.  Free transfer is available with MetroCard.

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday, February 18 to Monday, February 20, 3 trains run local in both directions between Chambers St and 34 St-Penn Station.

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday, February 18 to Monday, February 20, 3 trains are suspended in both directions between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av.  Free shuttle buses operate all weekend between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av, making all station stops.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Crown Hts-Utica Av.

At all times until Spring 2017, 4 trains skip Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St in both directions.  Use free shuttle buses instead.

  • For Service to/from Sutter Av-Rutland Rd, free shuttle buses operate between the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd station and the Crown Hts-Utica Av station at all times.
  • For Service to/from Junius St, free shuttle buses operate between the Junius St station and the Rockaway Av station at all times.

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, February 18 to 10:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, Flushing-Main St bound 7trains run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74 St-Broadway.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, February 19 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, Inwood-207 St bound a trains run express from Euclid Av to Broadway Junction.

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19, 168 St-bound c trains run express from Euclid Av to Broadway Junction.

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, d trains are rerouted in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  fnqr trains and free shuttle buses provide alternate service.  Trains will operate as follows:

  • d service operates between Norwood-205 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle, is rerouted via the a to/from Jay St-MetroTech, and via the f to/from Stillwell Av (trains run express in Manhattan).
  • f trains replace the d in Brooklyn between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Stillwell Av.
  • Free shuttle buses operate between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Grand St, stopping at B’way-Lafayette St.
  • For service to/from 7 Av, 47-50 Sts, 42 St-Bryant Pk, and 34 St-Herald Sq, use nearby stations on 7 Av or Broadway.
  • Transfer between the f and nqr via the passageway at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority. Transfer between d and nr trains at Jay St-MetroTech or 4 Av-9 St.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Friday, February 17 to Monday, February 20, and from 11:45 p.m. Monday, February 20 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound e trains run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71 Av.

At all times until early 2017 Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound f trains skip Avenue I, Bay Pkwy, Avenue N, Avenue P, Avenue U, and Avenue X.  To these stations, take the Coney Island-bound f to Kings Hwy or Neptune Av and transfer to a Jamaica-bound f.  From these stations, take a Jamaica-bound f to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound f.

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 10 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, f trains are rerouted in Manhattan and Brooklyn.  acdnqr trains and free shuttle buses provide alternate service.  f trains will operate as follows:

  • f service operates between Jamaica-179 St and Lexington Av/63 St, is rerouted via the q line to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, and via the d to/from Coney Island-Stillwell Av (trains run express in Manhattan; also, trains skip DeKalb Av, days and evenings).
  • d trains replace the f in Brooklyn between Jay St-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • Free shuttle buses run along two routes: Between W 4 St-Wash Sq and East Broadway, stopping at B’way-Lafayette St, 2 Av, and Delancey-Essex Sts, and between Jay St-MetroTech and York St.
  • For service to/from 7 Av, 47-50 Sts, and 42 St-Bryant Pk, use the nearby stations on 7 Av or Broadway.
  • Transfer between acd and nr trains at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority. Transfer between f and nr trains at Canal St.  Transfer between d and nr trains at Jay St-MetroTech.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, Jamaica-179 St bound f trains skip 75 Av, Briarwood, and Sutphin Blvd.

At all times until Summer 2017, Manhattan-bound j trains skip 121 St. 

  • For service to this station, use the nearby 111 St station instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound j to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound j.
  • For service from this station, use the nearby 111 St station instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from j service at nearby 111 St.
  • Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer bound j trains skip 121 St between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. Take a Q56 bus or the z train instead.

From 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19, j trains are suspended in both directions between Broadway Junction and Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer.  Free shuttle buses operate between Broadway Junction and 121 St, and connect with the e at Jamaica-Van Wyck, where service to/from Sutphin Blvd and Jamaica Center is available.  Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Jamaica-Van Wyck and/or Broadway Junction

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, m trains operate to/from the Chambers St j stations all weekend.  After Essex St, m service is rerouted via the j line to/from Chambers St, stopping at Bowery and Canal St.

At all times until Spring 2017, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd bound n trains skip 86 St, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy.  n trains will stop at Bay Pkwy and 8 Av.

  • To 86 St, Avenue U, and Kings Hwy, take the Astoria-bound n to Bay Pkwy and transfer to a Coney Island-bound n.
  • To 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the Astoria-bound n to 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound n.
  • From these stations, take a Coney Island-bound n to Bay Pkwy or Stillwell Av and transfer to an Astoria-bound n.
  • For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the d Transfer to an Astoria-bound n train at 36 St.

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 17 to 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, n trains run local in both directions in Brooklyn between 59 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.  n trains are rerouted via r line in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclay Ctr and Canal St.  Trains stop at DeKalb Av, Jay St-MetroTech, Court St, Whitehall St, Rector St, Cortlandt St, and City Hall.

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, February 18 to Monday, February 20, Forest Hills-71 Av bound r trains run express from Queens Plaza to 71 Av.
