PSC Commissioner Diane X. Burman Named to NARUC Committee

ALBANY — The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) today congratulated Commissioner Diane X. Burman for being named as a co-vice chair to the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Select Committee on Regulatory and Industry Diversity.

“Commissioner Burman will be an extraordinary volunteer to this important NARUC committee,” said Commission Chair John B. Howard. “She will bring her immense talents to bear helping NARUC and the Committee remain relevant on issues associated with diversity in the utility and regulatory sector.”

The Select Committee promotes inclusion and prudent, competitive procurement practices to advance opportunities for women, minority and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses in utility supply markets. The Select Committee also aims to strengthen relationships that provide mutual economic benefits for ratepayers, investors and disadvantaged business enterprises.

“I am honored to serve as co-vice chair of the Select Committee on Regulatory and Industry Diversity,” said Commissioner Burman. “I look forward to working with NARUC from my position in New York to help ensure the creation of the next generation of diverse businesses and professionals within our industry and regulatory community.”

NARUC is a non-profit organization founded in 1889 whose members include the governmental agencies that are engaged in the regulation of utilities and carriers in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. NARUC's member agencies regulate telecommunications, energy, and water utilities. NARUC represents the interests of State public utility commissions before the three branches of the Federal government.
