Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke Visit the Lake Placid Olympic Museum

Alpine Skiers Andrew Weibrecht & Cecily Decker Headline Next Thursday’s Program

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- A pair of three-time Olympians highlighted Thursday’s, June 20, Meet an Olympian program at the Lake Placid Olympic Museum. U.S. biathletes, Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke, visited the museum to talk about their sport, pose for pictures and sign autographs.

Last winter, the 35 year-old Bailey became the first American ever to win a biathlon world championship by taking the 20km individual event. That win also secured him a spot on his fourth Olympic team.

Burke is looking forward to his fourth Olympic Winter Games. In December 2009, he became the first-ever U.S. biathlete to lead the overall Biathlon World Cup.

The Meet an Olympian program continues Thursday, July 27, from 3-5 p.m., when two-time Olympic alpine medalist Andrew Weibrecht returns with alpine ski team teammate Cecily Decker. The series concludes, Aug. 3, with USA Luge’s Chris Mazdzer.

The Meet an Olympian program is a great way for people to meet several of the Lake Placid region’s 2018 Olympic Winter Games hopefuls.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is located at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.  All scheduled athletes are subject to change and additional past and future Olympians may join the program.  Admission for the Meet an Olympian program is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 65+ and juniors 7 – 12, and ages six and under are free.

For more information and for updated weekly scheduled appearances, please call the museum at 518-302-5326 or log on to www.whitefacelakeplacid.com about ORDA venues and events.
