MTA Announces Service Plans for Presidents’ DayMost Services to Operate on Saturday Schedules

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today offered details about service for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19, and for the long holiday weekend that begins on Friday, February 16.
New York City Subways and Buses
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 19, MTA New York City Transit buses and subways will operate on a Saturday schedule with some planned subway service changes. These changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and ongoing capital construction projects to repair, maintain and improve the subway system. As a reminder some subway lines do not run on weekends: there will be no express service. trains will not run, and customers are reminded to use the instead of the .
Long Island Rail Road
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19, the Long Island Rail Road will operate on a Holiday schedule with an extra train as shown in Ronkonkoma Branch timetables. The train, which will be included in the LIRR Train Time™ app, will depart Ronkonkoma at 7:07 a.m. and stop at Central Islip (7:14 a.m.), Brentwood (7:18 a.m.), Deer Park (7:22 a.m.), Wyandanch (7:27 a.m.), Farmingdale (7:33 a.m.), Bethpage (7:39 a.m.), Hicksville (7:46 a.m.), Jamaica (8:09 a.m.), and Woodside (8:19 a.m.), before arriving at Penn Station at 8:30 a.m.
Off peak fares will be in effect all day.
Metro-North Railroad
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19, Metro-North Railroad will operate on a Saturday schedule.
The Hudson Rail Link, Newburgh-Beacon Ferry and Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will not operate.
The north end exits to Grand Central at 46th-47th-48th Streets will be closed.
Off-peak fares are in effect all day.
Staten Island Railway
On Friday, Feb. 16, the Staten Island Railway will operate on an early evening rush hour schedule to help folks get a jump start on the long weekend. Extra SIR trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m. On Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 19, the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule.
For customized travel directions, customers are advised to use the MTA’s TripPlanner+ which provides travel information, and takes bus reroutes as well as weekend subway service diversions into account. Customers using bus routes in the five boroughs should use MTA Bus Time for real-time bus positions and arrival estimates.
