Viessmann FIBT World Cup Bobsled & Skeleton Racing Returns to Lake Placid

Media Credential Requests now Being Accepted

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2013) FIBT World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton. The 2013-’14 Viessmann FIBT World Cup season features a stop in Lake Placid, N.Y. where once again, the world’s best bobsled teams and skeleton athletes will try to tame the combined bobsled/luge and skeleton track at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex. The field will be filled with athletes who will go on and compete in the Sochi Olympic Winter Games.

WHAT: Viessmann FIBT World Cup bobsled and skeleton racing. The Dec. 10-15, 2013 event is the third stop in the worldwide seven-city World Cup series leading up to February’s Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

WHEN: Dec. 10-15, 2013. Training begins Tuesday, Dec. 10, and continues through Thursday, Dec. 12. Note: Updated race schedule times for Friday, Nov. 13.

Race Schedule: Friday, Dec. 13:

8:30 a.m. – Two-man bobsled Race #3 Run #1

10 a.m. – Two-man bobsled #3 Run #2

12 p.m. – Women’s Skeleton Race #3 Run #1

1 p.m. – Men’s Skeleton Run #1

2:15 p.m. – Women’s Skeleton Race #3 Run #2

3:15 p.m. – Men’s Skeleton Run #2

 Saturday, Dec. 14:

8:30 a.m. – Two-man bobsled Race #4 Run #1

10 a.m. – Two-man bobsled Race #4, Run #2

1 p.m. – Women’s bobsled Run #1

2:30 p.m. – Women’s bobsled Run #2

Sunday, Dec. 15:

9 a.m. – Women’s Skeleton Race #4 Run #1

10:30 a.m. – Women’s Skeleton Race #4 Run #2

1 p.m. – Four-man bobsled Run #1

2:30 p.m. – Four-man bobsled Run #2

WHERE: Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex track, Route 73, Bobsled Lane, Lake Placid, N.Y., 12946

WHO: The race is expected to draw at least 23 nations to Lake Placid to compete in bobsled and skeleton. Several of these nations will use the results from this race to help select their Olympic squads for Sochi.  Nations expected to compete include Austria, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, Netherland, Russia, Switzerland and the United States
