DEC TO ANNOUNCE GRANTS FOR LAND TRUSTS TO BOOST TOURISM, PROTECT FARMLAND AND INCREASE RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE

New York State’s weeklong celebration of Earth Week continues today, April 19 with an announcement in Skaneateles by DEC Acting Commissioner Basil Seggos heralding Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Conservation Partnership Program grants for 55 nonprofit land trusts across the State. Representatives of the DEC and the Land Trust Alliance will unveil the grantees at Shotwell Memorial Waterfront Park in Skaneateles, in Onondaga County as part of Earth Week, a weeklong celebration of New York's commitment and accomplishments to protecting our environment, conserving open space and increasing access to the state's vast and magnificent natural resources. 

Photo opportunity: Following announcement there will be a site visit to Finger Lakes Land Trust Hinchcliff Family Preserve (Skaneateles Lake), with a one mile hike.
