FEDERAL AND STATE LEADERS TO ANNOUNCE MAJOR MILESTONES FOR HISTORIC MONTAUK LIGHTHOUSE PROTECTION AND RESTORATION



Tomorrow, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m., New York State and federal officials will join the Montauk Historical Society to announce major milestones in the protection and restoration of the historic Montauk Point lighthouse. The landmark located on the easternmost point of Long Island underwent an extensive multi-year renovation and will be significantly protected from waves and coastal storms due to a new stone revetment that will prevent erosion and degradation of the site. 
 


WHO: Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos; Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Erik Kulleseid; United States Army Corps of Engineers; Montauk Historical Society; Empire State Development; and other state and local leaders. 

WHERE: Camp Hero State Park, 2000 Montauk Hwy, Montauk, NY 11954 (follow signs upon arrival)
