Monthly and Quarterly Sales Tax Filers: Don’t Delay; Submit Your Returns Today!

Sales tax vendors can file their returns now and schedule payments up until the September 20 deadline

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance today reminded both monthly and quarterly sales tax filers that returns are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20.

Convenient options are available to help avoid filing at the last minute. Sales Tax Web File makes filing easy, fast, and flexible—allowing payments to be scheduled up until the due date.

“We’re also reminding registered sales tax vendors that have no taxable sales, no taxable purchases, or no credit to report that they, too, must file a sales tax return or face penalties,” said Acting Commissioner Nonie Manion. “Our website is full of resources to help prepare and file an accurate sales tax return on time to avoid penalties.”

Resources include filing instructions, guidance, videos, and demos.

Sales Tax Web File is free to use and allows payments to be made directly from a vendor’s checking or savings account. The software allows bank account information to be saved for future payments and is designed to protect your private information.

To Web File:

1. Log in to your Online Services account.
2. Select Sales tax - file and pay in the Services menu.
3. Select Sales tax web file from the drop-down.
