VIDEO: Managing Director Ronnie Hakim Bids Farewell to the MTA |
|
Retiring MTA Managing Director Veronique "Ronnie" Hakim bid farewell to her colleagues as she walked out of MTA headquarters on her last day of work today. Hakim, who started at the MTA as an attorney at NYC Transit and became a trailblazer in the transportation industry as the first woman president of NYC Transit, has worked at the MTA a total of 27 years. In a short break from the MTA between 2010 and 2015, Hakim ran the NJ Turnpike Authority and then NJ Transit. Hakim was at the MTA for many historic milestones including the opening of the Second Avenue Subway, the introduction of modern rail cars and positive train control across much of LIRR and Metro-North Railroad, and both recent modern payment systems: the MetroCard and OMNY (when she started at MTA, riders were still using metal tokens). As she departed, Hakim was greeted in the lobby by hundreds of colleagues. Click here for video: https://youtu.be/JEf2ccZxq1o |
