Men’s ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament Friday & Saturday in Lake Placid

Cornell, Harvard, Quinnipiac and Union Play for Whitelaw Cup 2017 Men’s ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament Tickets Still Available

ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey Sunday night, March 12, announced the pairings for the 2017 ECAC Men's Hockey Championship featuring Quinnipiac vs. Harvard and Cornell vs. Union facing-off in the semifinal contests. The event marks the 56th overall championship and the 14th time at historic 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid N.Y., which hosted the league’s marquee event from 1993-2002, as well as the last three years.

The four top teams will battle it out on the ice looking to capture the Whitelaw Cup and an automatic bid to the 70th annual NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Tournament. The 2017 Men’s Championship semifinals will be held Friday, March 17. The first semifinal contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start, followed by second semifinal game set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The following day, Saturday, March 18, the championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. from the legendary venue.

Cornell (1967–70, 1973, 1980, 1986, 1996–97, 2003, 2005, 2010) leads all squads claiming 12 tournament titles, followed by Harvard’s (1963, 1971, 1983, 1987, 1994, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2015) nine championships, and St. Lawrence’s (1962, 1988–89, 1992, 2000–01) six crowns.

Semifinal - Quinnipiac vs. Harvard - 4:05 p.m.
Semifinal - Cornell vs. Union - 7:35 p.m.

Saturday, March 18
Championship Game - 7:35 p.m.

ECAC Hockey Men’s Championship are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena Box Office, by calling 518-523-3330 or through www.whitefacelakeplacid.com.

Tickets are priced at $55 for adults (ages 13-64), and $45 for juniors (12 & under) and seniors (65 & older), along with a special student ticket of $25, student identification card required, at the campuses of the four participating teams and a special designated ticket window at the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena Box Office.

The League has partnered with American Sports Network (ASN) to televise its 2017 Men’s Championship semifinals and final across the United States and TSN2 in Canada. In addition, championship weekend games will be available for viewing by a global audience and be aired through the technology of BoxCast on www.ecachockey.com. Fans can purchase a game for $9.95 (US) for viewing directly from the League’s Web site.
