NYS DEC TO PRESENT MADISON COUNTY WITH CLIMATE AWARD

WHAT:  The State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will recognize Madison County as the 10th local government in New York to be designated a Certified Climate Smart Community, highlighting specific new energy projects in the county.

WHO:  DEC Executive Deputy Commissioner, Ken Lynch; DEC Regional Director Matt Marko; Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman, John Becker; Madison County Planning Department Director, Scott Ingmire; Miss Earth United States 2016, Corrin Stellakis

WHY:   New York State’s Climate Smart Communities Certification program recognizes local governments that have taken action to reduce emissions and protect their communities from a changing climate. 

WHERE:  Scalehouse Education Room, Madison County Landfill: 6663 Buyea Road, Canastota 13032

WHEN:  Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

*Tour and photo op*: following the award presentation, press are invited to accompany DEC and county officials for a tour of the Madison County Agriculture and Renewable Energy Park. The county will showcase new sustainable energy projects at the Park.
