Metro-North Crews to Make Improvements to Upper Hudson Line Weekends of August 17-18 and 24-25Schedule Changes in Effect to Accommodate Line Upgrade

Metro-North Railroad advises customers that over the next two weekends, August 17-18 and August 24-25, crews will replace switches south of Poughkeepsie and perform rock-slope stabilization near Garrison. The track switch allows trains to move from one track to another and is crucial to operational flexibility. Rock-slope stabilization - removing and securing loose rocks along the right-of-way - is a long-term investment in safe and efficient service. These infrastructure-improvement projects require two single-track operations for 7 miles between Manitou and Cold Spring and also for 14 miles between Beacon and a track-switch location north of the Poughkeepsie station. As a result, there is reduced service between Poughkeepsie, New Hamburg and Grand Central Terminal for the next two weekends and schedule adjustments for most trains.

Email and text message service updates – Customers are urged to sign up to receive the alerts by visiting MyMTAAlerts.com. To avoid unwanted messages, a user can tailor the messages to the specific branch, and the specific times of day.

The above communications channels can be accessed while at home or on the go. For customers who are located at stations, Metro-North will post the latest service updates on digital signs at station platforms and will make audio announcements over public address systems, and on-board announcements made by train crews.
