State Departments of Labor and Agriculture and Markets Partner to Fill 300 Jobs at Upcoming New York State Fair

The New York State Departments of Labor and Agriculture and Markets today announced a partnership to fill approximately 300 staff positions at the annual New York State Fair, which runs from August 21 through September 1.

The recruitment sessions will take place in the Martha Eddy Room of the Art & Home Center at the New York State Fairgrounds (581 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, NY):

  • Thursday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Hiring managers will be accepting applications and conducting interviews this Thursday and Friday for positions, which include general labor/maintenance, parking, ushers and other miscellaneous positions.

A job fair in March filled positions that run throughout the summer.

“The New York State Fair is always a great time to have fun, but it can also be a great opportunity to work as well,” said Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera. “I encourage everyone interested in being a part of the Fair to attend this recruitment.”

“The jobs available at the Great New York State Fair are part of our reinvestment in our communities,” said State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball. “These workers help us ensure that the Fair will be a clean, safe, orderly and fun place for everyone.”

The work hours, hourly rate and duration of employment vary by assignment. Applicants may be subject to background investigation/criminal history checks. Positions for applicants under the age of 18 will require working papers and are limited.
