Yolanda Vega Awards Brockport Man $1,000,000 Lottery Prize

The New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega today awarded a Brockport man with his $1,000,000 Lottery prize at the store where he purchased his lucky ticket. Seventy-two-year-old Robert Jenks purchased his jackpot winning Ruby Red X25 ticket at Barber’s Grill & Tap Room on Main Street.

“I come in every morning to clean up the place before it opens,” said Jenks.  “I buy a few tickets while I’m here.”

Jenks wasn’t sure his ticket was a winner so he handed it to the bartender.  “What’s that say?” he asked.  “I was told it was a million dollar winner so I took it back and put in my back pocket.”

Jenks opted to receive his $1,000,000 prize as a one-time lump sum payment.  He will receive a net check totaling $517,286 after required withholdings.

“The money won’t change me,” he explained.  “I’ll still continue working here and help out my family.”

Jenks is the 61st New York Lottery player to claim a prize totaling $1,000,000 or more this year.

As of this writing there is one outstanding top prize available on the Ruby Red X25 ticket. Players may check the status of any New York Lottery Scratch-off game by clicking the Instant Games Reports link at nylottery.ny.gov.
