MTA Provides Service Details for Labor Day WeekendExtra Getaway Services on Friday, September 1, Will Start the Weekend

To help New Yorkers enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer, and kick off a long Labor Day weekend, MTA railroads will provide extra service on Friday, September 1. All MTA services will operate on special schedules on Labor Day, Monday, September 4. Details are below.
Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad
On Friday, September 1, the LIRR will offer nine extra afternoon trains from Penn Station and Jamaica, and Metro-North will offer 17 extra afternoon trains departing Grand Central Terminal.

New York City Subways and Buses
MTA New York City Transit subways and buses and MTA Bus Company buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, September 4. The Clark Street Tunnel Closure service plan will be in effect, and service will be suspended in Brooklyn. service will be extended to New Lots Av to replace the , and service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the .
Because of the J’Ouvert Parade on Monday, September 4, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Brooklyn, the Church Av station will be closed and bypassed from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Monday, September 4. Buses in the area will be rerouted.
Because of the West Indian-American Day Parade on Monday, September 4, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. along Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, certain subway entrances in the parade area may be affected and buses in the area will be rerouted. The Eastern Pakwy-Brooklyn Museum station will be closed and bypassed from 12 noon to 7 p.m. Monday, September 4. At Crown Hts-Utica Av station, certain staircases will be designated entrance/exit only. Additional service will be provided on the line between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., and trains will make all local stops in Brooklyn.

Staten Island Railway
Staten Island Railway (SIR) customers looking to get a head start on their three-day weekend will be able to catch earlier afternoon express train service on Friday, September 1, with Staten Island Railway’s Early Departure Getaway schedule. This schedule means extra SIR trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m. SIR will operate on a Sunday Schedule on Labor Day, Monday, September 4. The Early Departure Getaway service plan on SIR will also be available on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and the Friday before Christmas and New Year’s.
