"We are taking bold and aggressive action to tackle the substance abuse crisis head on," said Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Co-Chair of the State Heroin and Opioid Task Force. "This investment to establish new treatment beds statewide will help to ensure that those struggling with addiction have access to lifesaving treatment and support. New York is paving the road to recovery for countless individuals in need, ensuring they live healthier and safer lives."

“The right level of care is critical to recovery from addiction,” OASAS Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez said. “This funding will continue our ongoing expansions of services throughout New York State, and will help more people receive the help they need to support their treatment and recovery from addiction.”

Providers receiving awards are listed below, with the counties served. While a total of up to $10 million is being awarded through this initiative, the exact amount each provider is receiving is yet to be determined.  Operational funding to support these services will also be provided once the capital projects are completed.

• Transitional Services, Association, Inc.20 Residential Services beds serving Saratoga County.
• Alcohol and Drug Council (ADC) of Tompkins County, Inc.,20 Withdrawal and Stabilization, Services beds serving Cortland, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.  Funding to establish an additional 20 Residential Services beds has also been awarded to the ADC by the New York State Department of Health (DOH) through the Health Care Facility Transformation Program.  This partnership with the DOH will allow the establishment of a total of 40 new substance use disorder services beds in these Counties.

Medically supervised withdrawal and stabilization programs offer medical assessment, information about recovery support, family treatment, clinical services and medication to manage withdrawal symptoms. These programs are a short-term service designed to prepare people for and connect them to longer term treatment.

Residential services programs offer structured treatment and recovery services for people affected by an addiction. Services can include counseling, training, and recreational programs. These facilities support New York's efforts to provide a full continuum of residential care for people suffering from addiction by incorporating the three essential elements of treatment: stabilization, rehabilitation, and reintegration.
