DEC ANNOUNCES END OF SEASON BOAT LAUNCH DOCK REMOVAL

Removal of the state’s boat launch docks will begin October 13 as the boating season slowly draws to a close, the state announced today.

Annually, docks at New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) owned and operated boat launches across the region are installed and removed at the beginning and end of each boating season.

DEC manages 395 boat docks and fishing access facilities across the state in 57 of New York’s 62 counties, the majority which are located in the Adirondacks.

Dock removal will begin October 13 and continue through mid-November as the cold weather approaches. Generally, docks located more inland and at smaller sites are removed first. Weather conditions and available staff can impact these dates.

All DEC launches remain open to the public after docks are removed.
