2019 Lake Placid International Children’s Winter Games Day #2

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (Jan. 8, 2019) --- Today, Tuesday, Jan. 8, marked the opening day of competition for the 2019 International Children’s Winter Games, being held in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The more than 450 athletes from 33 cities and 14 countries, who are in the two-time Olympic village, are competing in eight sports to include alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, biathlon, long track speed skating, figure skating, and hockey. The events are being held at Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid Olympic Jumping Complex, speed skating oval, and the Olympic Center. 

All the competitions are open to the public and are free, with the exception of the freestyle and snowboarding events, which requires a Whiteface Mountain lift ticket. Competitions take place through Thursday January 10.  Complete results from the eighth International Children’s Winter Games can be found by visiting LakePlacid2019.com/sports. Results are listed under each individual sport.
