REINSTEIN WOODS OFFERS NATURE TECH ADVENTURES FOR KIDS

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), in partnership with Friends of Reinstein Woods, is offering children a unique opportunity to explore a new side of nature through five Nature Tech Adventures starting Monday, April 2.

The week-long series at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in the town of Cheektowaga is open to children ages eight and older to discover how technology and nature intersect to provide exciting outdoor adventures. Children and their parents can sign up for one or more of these engaging spring break programs. The events are free of charge, but registration is required for each session.  

Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center is located at 93 Honorine Drive in Depew, about three miles from the Walden Galleria mall. To register, call Reinstein Woods at (716) 683-5959.

Incorporate technology with birding and learn about eBird and the Merlin bird ID app.

Nature Tech Adventure: Geo-Caching Egg Hunt
Thursday, April 5, 1:30 p.m.

Learn how to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit and use the handheld GPS units to find hidden eggs in the preserve

Nature Tech Adventure: Wind Power Challenge
Friday, April 6, 1:30 p.m.

Design and test a windmill see how much energy it creates.
