PUBLIC NOTICE: Wage Board to Hold Public Hearing in New York City on October 20

PURSUANT to the Open Meetings Law, the New York State Department of Labor hereby gives notice that on Monday, October 20, 2014, the Wage Board will hold a public hearing to receive testimony about required cash wage rates and the allowable credits for tips, meals and lodging for food service workers and service employees in the hospitality industry.

The hearing will be held at the following location and time:

If you preregister, you will be given priority in seating and speaking. Seating and speaking order for those who have not preregistered will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis and as determined by the Board secretary and event staff.

Due to an anticipated high number of speakers, oral presentations will be limited to 5 minutes each.

Testimony and Comments:
Speakers are asked (but not required) to prepare their testimony in writing. Digital versions of testimony and comments are preferred and may be emailed to wageboard@labor.ny.gov at any time before December 15. Testimony should include your name, organization (if any), and contact information. It should also include whether you are or represent a worker or employer and a short statement summarizing your position.

All attendees must present photo ID prior to entering the hearing.

The hearing facilities meet the accessibility needs of individuals with disabilities. If you plan to attend the hearing and are in need of reasonable accommodations, such as interpreters, assistive listening devices, or large-print or Braille materials, please note this when preregistering, as far in advance of the hearing as possible.

If you need translation services, please note which language when preregistering, as far in advance of the hearing as possible.

A video of the hearing will be available online within two business days.
