Effective today, reporters and editors seeking information from the MTA can reach the MTA Press Office 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dialing (212) 878-7440.
 
This is the phone number to call with questions about current, ongoing operations of:
  • New York City Subway
  • New York City Buses
  • Long Island Rail Road
  • Metro-North Railroad
  • MTA Police Department
  • Staten Island Railway
  • Access-A-Ride
  • MTA Bridges and Tunnels (specifically the Bronx-Whitestone, Cross Bay, Henry Hudson, Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges, Robert F. Kennedy, Throgs Neck and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridges and Queens-Midtown and Hugh L. Carey Tunnels)
The MTA Press Office is staffed from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. At other times, calls made to the number above will reach a member of the MTA Press Office.

Two previous after-hours press hotlines – one for New York City Transit and one for the MTA’s commuter railroads, bridges and tunnels – are being discontinued and replaced by the main number given above.
