Simultaneous Displays at Grand Central, Moynihan Train Hall and One Vanderbilt Display of Images on the Information Boards at Grand Central Terminal Synchronized to Audio is a First in 108-Year History of Grand Central In a historic first, “TRAVELS FAR,” the memorial launched by MTA Arts & Design this week to honor the 136 MTA employees lost to COVID-19, will appear simultaneously on the large informational ‘Big Boards’ at Grand Central Terminal as well as massive new digital screens adorning Moynihan Train Hall and the Transit Hall of One Vanderbilt that is connected to Grand Central today, Jan. 28. The images – set to a backdrop of official MTA colors, are accompanied by “TRAVELS FAR” after a poem by Tracy K. Smith, the former U.S. Poet Laureate who was commissioned for this project. The online version of the memorial, which appears at stations in multiple languages, is accompanied by an original score of the same name by composer Christopher Thompson.
