Event to Include Entertainment, Food, Vendors, State Agency Informational Booths, Farmers Market, and an AAPI Symposium Presented by the Sino-American Culture & Arts Foundation UPDATE: AAPI Event and Farmers Market Moved Indoors Due to Inclement Weather Forecast WHAT: NYS Office of General Services (OGS) hosts a lunchtime celebration as part of New York State’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month observance. In conjunction with OGS’s weekly farmers market, the event will include interactive cultural activities, food vendors, traditional Western Indian and Indonesian dance performances, a Chinese Sichuan Opera Face-changing performance, Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrations, and State agency informational booths. The event will also feature an AAPI Symposium, “From Ancient to Modern, from Local to International, from Farm to Table – Embracing the Asian American and Pacific Islander Experience,” presented by the Sino-American Culture & Arts Foundation. The symposium will include two panels (panel topics are subject to change):
WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, with AAPI symposium running from noon to 2 p.m. WHERE: AAPI event, performances, food vendors, and weekly farmers market will be moved indoors to the Empire State Plaza concourse level. The AAPI symposium will take place in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center meeting room 6.
