SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The clock is ticking for a mystery New York Powerball winner who now has just one week left to claim a $1,000,000 Lottery prize. The winning ticket was from the August 25, 2012 Powerball drawing and was sold at Playland Market, 488 Forest Avenue in Rye, Westchester County.

“Time is running out for the winner of this $1,000,000 prize, but we are still hopeful that someone will come forward to claim it before August 25,” said Gardner Gurney, Acting Director of the Division of the Lottery. “This prize could really help to make dreams become a reality for a lucky New York Lottery player.”

The winning numbers from the August 25, 2012 Powerball drawing were 1 – 6 – 7 – 20 – 49 Powerball 23.  Prizes can be claimed up to a year after the drawing, which means the lucky winner has only one week remaining to collect the $1 million Lottery prize.

Lottery officials recommend that the ticket holder sign the back of the ticket and take it to any New York Lottery retailer to scan the ticket.  Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket should call the Lottery at 518-388-0563. The winner may claim the ticket at any one of the Lottery’s seven Customer Service Centers statewide, including the Fishkill office at Hudson Valley Towne Center, 18 Westage Business Center, Fishkill, NY 12524.  If you are holding the winning ticket,  click here to learn how to redeem your prize.

As is always the case, in the event the prize is not claimed by August 25, the prize money will be returned to the prize pool for future winners. It is used to subsidize prizes for jackpots, promotions and/or special one-time games.
