DEC to Improve Infrastructure at Caroga Lake Campground

In an effort to upgrade aging infrastructure and enhance user experiences at the Caroga Lake Campground in Fulton County, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced today it will close 51 of 161 as improvements are made to the site.

While preparing for the opening of the facility this season, DEC staff discovered the wastewater system needed to be replaced in order to protect water quality and visitor health and safety.

DEC will construct a new wastewater system to ensure future use of the campgrounds are maintained.  Campers with reservations to these campsites will be given a full refund and offered an opportunity to reserve another available campsite at Caroga Lake Campground or reserve a campsite at another nearby DEC campground.

110 of the 161 campsites at Caroga Lake will remain open as the new wastewater system is constructed and other enhancements are made to the campground facilities.
