Henry Hudson Bridge Overnight Lower Level Closure on Sept. 26, 2019 |
|
As part of the ongoing work to rehabilitate the lower level roadway of the Henry Hudson Bridge, an overnight (technically early morning) lower level full closure will be necessary on Thursday, Sept. 26. The southbound (to Manhattan) closure will start at 12:01 a.m. and go through to 5:00 a.m. A detour will be in place to route drivers around this closure. Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Kappock Street at Exit 18, and motorists will follow detour via local streets to the Broadway Bridge. Motorists will then re-enter the South bound Henry Hudson Parkway at exit 17, Dyckman Street. This work is part of the previously announced $86 million project to replace the last remaining sections of the 1930s-era roadway deck. A signature part of this project is the removal of columns and toll islands from the old toll plaza on the lower level roadway, which will improve traffic flow and allow for a smoother ride across the bridge. Motorists should allow for additional travel time or choose an alternate route. Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts at www.mymtaalerts.com and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information. |
