MEDIA ADVISORY: State Parks to Unveil Free Park Access for Some Families and Transportation Initiative to Bring All New York City School Kids to State Parks

New York State in partnership with the National Parks Service will unveil a new program aimed at enhancing educational and recreational opportunities for school children and grow a new generation of environmental stewards. The program to be unveiled will center upon free park access for some families and new funding for New York City schools so that they may transport children to the great outdoors outside city limits.

Immediately following the brief program 75 fourth graders will participate in a ½ mile nature walk along the Hudson River to the Trailside Museum and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park.

Directions: From NYC – One hour and ten minutes - Palisades Parkway north to U.S. 9W North, Fort Montgomery State Historic Site is on the right.
