With Revised Approach, 100 Percent of  Customers Will Continue to Have Normal Service During Highest Ridership Times on Weekdays;
Additional Proposed Public Transit Will Give Options to Evening and Weekend Customers, Including Extra ,  and  Subway Service, More M14A service, Two New Williamsburg Link Buses and Free Transfers

Since the revised approach to the  Project’s tunnel rehabilitation work was announced in early January, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has been working on a revised construction schedule and a new service plan to accommodate any impacted  customers. MTA leadership, joined by the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT), met with elected officials, community board leadership and advocates on February 13 and 14 about these updates, and today, MTA is inviting the community to join them at a series of open houses to continue discussions about this plan and get more information.   

Starting in March, customers can meet with MTA team members at any of four open houses, or on subway platforms and in train cars. There, customers can get information on:

• Updates on the proposed construction approach and progress on other elements staying the same, such as the new elevators at Bedford Av, 1 Av and 14 St-6 Av ( platform) stations
• The new proposed service plan
• One-on-one trip planning help with MTA team members
• Other service elements to help navigate the changes, such as how to know which train to board

Additionally, NYC DOT will be present at the open houses to review planned street treatments.

The four open houses are scheduled in Brooklyn and Manhattan from 6-8 p.m. on the following dates: 

Thursday, March 7: Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Bernard, 328 W14 St (btw 8th and 9th Aves)
Wednesday, March 13: Williamsburg Northside School, 299 N7th St (at Meeker Ave)
Tuesday, March 19: Grand Street Campus High School, 850 Grand St (btw Bushwick Ave & Waterbury St)
Monday, April 8: 14th St Y, 344 E14 St (btw 1st & 2nd Aves)

“The revised approach to the  Project would be massively better for our customers, the vast majority of which won’t experience changes in services,” said Veronique Hakim, Managing Director, MTA. “We’ve also worked hard to come up with a plan focused on giving customers other options in addition to the  during the weeknights and weekend times. We have a plan for extra subway and bus service, free transfers, and more so customers can pick the best option for them. We’re looking forward to meeting customers to help them plan ahead with the right tools and information at our upcoming open houses.”  

In addition to the plans for the  Project, MTA New York City Transit and NYC DOT team members will also be available at the open houses to discuss the newly proposed M14 Select Bus Service.
