Service Changes are Part of Subway Action Plan,

Enhanced Station Initiative and Other Ongoing Maintenance,
Repair and Upgrade Work for Improvements on the

These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and Manhattan and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to continue to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station repairs and improvements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.   

The Weekender is a digital guide to understanding planned service changes in effect for system maintenance and construction, and makes it easy for customers to visualize exactly how weekend work will affect subway service. The Weekender is accessible through the MTA website by clicking “The Weekender” tab within the Service Status Menu.

The Weekender is also available as a free app for iPhone and Android devices on the MTA website here.  This app shares the same features as the desktop version, including a subway diagram that displays the service to be provided each weekend, and all service changes.  Users can pinch or expand the map to multiple zoom levels, and tap to choose one of three ways to view service diversions: Service by Line, Service by Borough and Service by Station.

TripPlanner+ provides travel information that takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway diversion emails by signing up here.  Customers who rely on these lines should allow for additional travel time.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23,  service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  This project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables.

•  trains will not run in Brooklyn.  and trains will run local in Brooklyn.  Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations.  As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St .   trains will make all station stops to New Lots Av,  service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the . 
•  trains will run between South Ferry and the Bronx, making local stops between Chambers St and 34 St.
•  trains will run between 14 St and Harlem-148 St. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Times Sq , or free out of system transfer between Bowling Green  and South Ferry .  

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23,  service is suspended between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St due to track replacement.   trains will run between South Ferry and E 180 St.   trains will run between Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College and Wakefield-241 St.  Free shuttle buses will run between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St.  Transfer between buses and trains at E 180 St.  

From 10 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, uptown  trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St to due to signal improvements.  Beginning 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21,  trains run local in both directions between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23,  trains will run local in Brooklyn and make  station stops due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.   service will be extended to New Lots Av, and  service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.  A free out-of-system transfer is available between Bowling Green  and South Ferry  stations.   

From 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, to 4:30 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23,  service is suspended in both directions between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards due to track maintenance.   service will operate between Main St and Queensboro Plaza.  Use the  or  for service between Manhattan and Queens.  Transfer at Queensboro Plaza  or 74 St-Roosevelt Av .  Free shuttle buses will run between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Sq-42 St, and between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.  As a reminder, trains run days/evenings, and the 42 Street  Shuttle will run overnight. 

At all times until Fall 2018  trains skip 163 St-Amsterdam Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St , 155 St , or 157 St 1 instead.  Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the  at 168 St or 155 St with MetroCard.  Need to transfer to another bus?  Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, uptown  trains run express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 145 St/168 St A due to structural improvements.  Use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 168 St , 145 St, 125 St of 59 St-Columbus Circle.  As a reminder,  service does not run overnight.       

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, Queens-bound A and Euclid Av-bound  trains run express from Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts to Euclid Av due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.  Use a Manhattan-bound  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Euclid Av, Broadway Junction, Utica Av, Nostrand Av (with unlimited Ride MetroCard), or Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts.  As a reminder,  service does not run overnight. 

At all times until May 2018,  service will be suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Beach 116 St due to a flood protection project in the Rockaways that will make critical subway infrastructure more resilient in the face of future storms, and improve the overall reliability of subway service on the peninsula.  During this closure,  service will operate between Inwood-207 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.  Shuttle trains will make all station stops between Beach 116 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av.  Transfer between trains at Beach 67 St.  In addition to the shuttle, customers may also use the following buses: Q22, Q35, Q52-SBS, Q53-SBS, QM16 and QM17 express.

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20,  service will end early due station enhancements at 110 St and 145 St. Take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends.  

At all times until September 2018,  trains will skip Cathedral Parkway-110 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, walk to the nearby BC stations at 116 St and 103 St, along Fredrick Douglas Blvd/Central Park West.  Or take the 1 at 110 St, along Broadway.  Use the M10 bus along Fredrick Douglas Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 116 St or 103 St with MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 116 St or 103 St for a transfer to the bus.

From 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, and from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 21 and Sunday, Apr. 22,  service is suspended in both directions between 145 St and 168 St due to structural improvements.  Take the  instead.   trains will run between Euclid Av and 145 St. Downtown  trains will stop at 155 St and 135 St.  Transfer at 125 St and 145 St.   

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, Norwood-205 St bound  trains skip 170 St and 174-175 Sts due to track maintenance.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Tremont Av or 167 St.

From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to Monday, Apr. 23, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains stop at 23 St and 14 St due to track maintenance. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, Manhattan-bound  trains run express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, skipping DeKalb Av, due to switch maintenance.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or 36 St.  For service to DeKalb Av take the  via transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, World Trade Center-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line after 5 Av/53 St to W 4 St-Wash Sq due to electrical improvements.  For service to/from 7 Av, take the  via transfer at 47-50 Sts.  For service to  line stations along 8 Av, transfer to an uptown  train at W 4 St-Wash Sq.  As a reminder,  trains will make local stops overnight, when  trains are not running. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, World Trade Center-bound  trains skip Briarwood and 75 Av due to signal modernization.  Use a Jamaica Center-bound  or Jamaica-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 71 Av, Union Tpke, or Jamaica-Van Wyck . 

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23,  service is suspended in both directions between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions due to structural improvements and signal interlocking modernization.   service will operate between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.  Free shuttle buses make all  line station stops between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Church Av.  Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Church Av.  

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, uptown  trains skip 14 St and 23 St and due to signal maintenance and interlocking modernization.  Use a downtown  or  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq or W 4 St-Wash Sq. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, Manhattan-bound  trains skip 169 St, Sutphin Blvd, Briarwood and 75 Av due to signal modernization.  Use a Jamaica Center-bound  or Jamaica-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 71 Av, Union Tpke, Parsons Blvd  or 179 St .  

From 10 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, Jamaica-bound  trains run local from Roosevelt Av to 71 Av due to signal modernization.   

At all times until summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 121 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, take the  to Sutphin Blvd and transfer to a Broad St-bound .  As a reminder, Broad St-bound  trains skip 121 St from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the  instead.  For service from this station, take the  to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound . 

From 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 22,  service is suspended in both directions between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av due to track replacement.   service will operate in two sections: between Jamaica Center and Broadway Junction, and between Marcy Av and Broad St.  Free shuttle buses will run between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av.  Transfer between  trains and shuttle buses at Broadway Junction and/or Marcy Av.  For service to/from Manhattan, use the  or  to/from Broadway Junction.  As a reminder,  service is suspended in both directions between Delancey-Essex Sts and Broadway Junction this weekend. 

At all times until April 2018,  service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs due to the Myrtle Viaduct Reconstruction project.   service will operate in two sections:

• Between Delancey-Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the  to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
• Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
• Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

From 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 22,  service is suspended in both directions between Delancey-Essex Sts and Broadway Junction due to track replacement.   trains provide alternate service between Marcy Av and Delancey-Essesx Sts.  Free shuttle buses will run between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av.  Transfer between  trains and shuttle buses at Broadway Junction and/or Marcy Av. 

Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20,  service will end early between 71 Av and Delancey-Essex Sts due to track maintenance.    

At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, Manhattan-bound  trains are rerouted via the  (Manhattan Bridge) from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Canal St due to switch maintenance.  Use the  instead which runs via the  (Montague Tunnel) during this time.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Canal St. 

At all times until spring 2018,  trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  There will also be a new staircase for exiting from the 30 Av Astoria-bound platform to the street-level intersection of 30th Avenue and Newtown Avenue.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for  service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St  stations.  Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):

• Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza or Queens Plaza
• Q18 to Northern Blvd .
• Q66 to Steinway St , Northern Blvd , 21 St-Queensbridge , Queensboro Plaza , and Queens Plaza .
• Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge , Queens Plaza , Queensboro Plaza .

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, Manhattan-bound  trains are rerouted via the  (Montague Tunnel) from DeKalb Av to Canal St due to switch maintenance. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Apr. 20, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21,  trains are suspended in both directions between Whitehall St and 59 St due to switch maintenance.    shuttle service will run between Bay Ridge-95 St and 59 St.  Transfer between  and  trains at 59 St, and between  and  trains at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. 

From 6 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, Manhattan-bound  trains run express from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and sip DeKalb Av due to switch maintenance.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  local or Bay Ridge-bound  to complete your trip. 

From 6 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21, Manhattan-bound  trains are rerouted via the  (Manhattan Bridge) from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Canal St due to switch maintenance.  Use the  instead which runs via the  (Montague Tunnel) during this time.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Canal St.    

From 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 21 to 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 23, the 42 St  Shuttle will operate overnight due to track replacement work on the  line.

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 21 and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 22, special weekend service operates between Whitehall St and Ditmars Blvd, in order to provide additional service due to track replacement work on the  line between Times Sq-42 St and Queensboro Plaza.
